A lot of adults put off jiu-jitsu because they think they need to be in shape first, or they worry about being thrown in with experienced people on day one. Helping a Nervous Child Find Courage on the Mat

October's life skill in our Keller kids classes is courage. For a lot of kids, the bravest thing they do all month is walk onto the mat for the first time, so this post shares simple ways parents can help a nervous child take that step. The short answer: if your child is nervous about trying martial arts, that is normal, and it is exactly what courage practice looks like. It's trying anyway. Kids feel nervous before a first class for the same reasons adults do. It is a new room, with new ....

  • Courage: Teaching Kids to Be Brave Even When They’re Afraid

Courage: Learning to Be Brave Even When You're Afraid Courage is often misunderstood. We tend to think of courage as doing something big or heroic—standing up to a bully, facing a dangerous situation, or doing something that makes you look fearless. But for kids, courage often looks much simpler. Courage is raising your hand when you're not sure of the answer. Courage is trying something new when you're afraid you might fail. Courage is standing up for a friend. Courage is admitting when you made a mistake. Courage is walking into class for the first time, even when you're nervous. Courage doesn't mean you aren't afraid. Courage means you don't let fear make the ....

Peak has a great atmosphere full of wonderful teammates. No matter what your current fitness level and goals are, you will have support for your work and progress. I've been going to Peak, on and off, for 7 years. The on times make all of life night-and-day better than the off times. I've taken BJJ, Muay Thai, and fitness classes; you can't go wrong. Highly recommended - come see for yourself.
